extend       yrself         elswhere—

up nd over the ropes
nd the aprons of yr mind
into the possibility
that a guillotine
may drop the head off yr body
or treat yr trachea
like the straw
in a wiry child’s soda,
it may also cure yr sciatica.
it may teach you to be a better person
better than any litany of life lessons
you’ve been provided thus far.
sometimes it takes a drop,
a       cut
ter,
a       stun
ner.
something jarring nd jawjacking
to rustle cobwebs nd wake old spiders
from their slumbering assumptions
that the web will fill itself.
